What Should Go into the Common App Honors Section?
· So my D17 is asking me on the common app if the Honors section is ONLY for academics as the question implies here: “If you have received any honors related to your academic achievements beginning with the ninth grade or international equivalent, please indicate number of honors” I keep reading conflicting information such as the article here: · The Education section of Common App has a separate field for you to list 5 of your top honors and awards. You can include extracurricular awards here as well, but we recommend focusing on academic honors in the Education section and adding significant extracurricular achievements, such as team victories, to the Activities section · In the Common App, this section is meant for academic honors. The term “academic” can be interpreted pretty loosely: arts awards, publications, and even character/sportsmanship awards for athletics are fair game. I am not sure which ones I should include because I am not sure if my achievements fall under academic honors, I don't know if they are relevant enough to be included in my application, and I have more than 5.
